Description
The structure is a garden wall dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in random bond and extends from the east corner of Spains Hall, turning southeast and then northeast to connect with the garden pavilion approximately 70 metres from the house. The wall stands about 2 metres high, raised to approximately 3 metres during the 18th century. It features an incomplete dogtooth course at the top and moulded V-coping. Near the southwest end, there is a blocked original doorway with chamfered jambs and a four-centred arched head. Near the northeast end, there is another doorway with a two-centred arched head. A section measuring 3 metres has been rebuilt in the 19th century, which includes a doorway with a segmental arch. Additionally, there are several lean-to sheds on the northwest side.
