Garden Wall To North West Of Hedgeley Hall

The garden wall located to the north-west of Hedgeley Hall dates from the 18th century and was altered in 1914. The 18th-century section is constructed of brick in stretcher bond with a squared stone outer face, while the 1914 section is made of brick in English Garden Wall bond 1 and 5, featuring stone dressings and coping. The 1914 wall encloses a garden immediately to the west of the house on the north and west sides, with each section having a central semicircular recess that holds two gadrooned urns on the coping. From the south end of the west wall, the earlier wall extends south-westwards, with its courses sloping downhill and the coping ramping down twice. This section includes a vertical-panelled door set in a chamfered alternating-block surround and ends just beyond a small stream.
