Description

The garden walls located 60 metres north of Styford Hall were built around 1800 and were slightly reduced in height around 1980. They are constructed of brick in English Garden Wall Bond 3:1, except for the center and north face of the north wall, which are made of coursed rubble with tooled-and-margined quoins, topped with stone coping. The walls form a rectangular walled garden, with the side walls extending slightly beyond the south wall to finish in square piers. The tall walls feature hollow-chamfered coping, which ramps down twice on each side. There are boarded doorways under elliptical arches at the center of the south wall and north of the center in the side walls. The rear elevation of the north wall displays battered buttresses and bricked-up vents for heating flues. A pent outbuilding with an asbestos roof is present but is not of interest.
