Description
Hollin Hill Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with a roof that was altered in the later 19th century. The front is made of squared stone, while the rear is constructed from rubble, and it has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays that are slightly irregular. The left-of-centre entrance features a six-panel door, flanked by 12-pane sash windows, with the right window having been renewed. Above, there are shorter 12-pane sashes. The end stacks have been rebuilt in brick, and the roof verges overhang the eaves.
To the right, there is a one-storey addition that is an old outshut, which has been altered. On the left, there is a two-storey extension added in 1957, which is not of interest. Inside, the front door is likely original to the house and is made to fit the stonework rather than a wooden frame, featuring old ironwork and hinges set within the wall. The central staircase has stick balusters and a square-section moulded handrail, along with two-panel doors.
