Description
The coach house and stables, built around 1830-1840, are located north of Greenfield Cottage. Constructed from squared stone with tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings, the building features a Welsh slate roof. The structure consists of ranges surrounding a yard that is open to the south. The north range is two storeys tall with four irregular bays; the left section has two elliptical arches with three slatted windows above, while the right section, which is set slightly forward, contains a 6-pane casement window inserted in a former chamfered doorway and a slit vent, topped by a hipped roof.
The single-storey side ranges each have a boarded door and a small window facing the yard. The gable ends to the south are coped and each features twin arched pigeon holes above an alighting shelf. The west range has these pigeon holes above boarded double doors in a segmental arch, while the east range has them above another inserted casement in a chamfered doorway opening.
This building was formerly the stable block for Greenville, which is now known as Field House.
