Description
Prospect House is a house, likely dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of roughly-tooled squared stone, with a Scottish slate roof and end stacks rebuilt in yellow brick, alongside an older brick stack at the rear. The building is two storeys high and has an irregular three-bay facade. A double-panelled door, with a plain overlight, is centrally positioned, and has a Royal Fire Company insurance plaque above it. A boarded door is on the far left, and a blocked door with a 20th-century wrought-iron screen is on the far right, both having keyed supra-lintels. Three four-pane sashes are present on each floor, each with slightly projecting sills. The gables are coped, and the end stacks are rebuilt upon original bases.
Inside, there are fielded-panel doors and some original shutters. A bedroom on the west side of the house contains 18th-century fireplaces, with a reeded overmantel featuring lion masks and 19th-century ironwork.
