Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres north-west of Hill Farmhouse in Bures Hamlet, dates back to the 16th century and has been converted into a house. It features a timber frame, is weatherboarded, and has a slate roof adorned with red clay pierced ridge tiles. The structure consists of six bays aligned north to south, with a midstrey on the east side and two bays at the south end. A 20th-century porch is situated in the north-east angle of the barn. The building is two storeys high, and the east elevation has a five-window range of 20th-century casements, all with diamond leaded glass except for one. The original large doorway in the midstrey has been blocked with vertical planking, leaving two arched braces visible at the top. The porch features a 20th-century six-panel door and has a hipped roof. Inside, the roof is supported by collar trusses with straight bracing, and the tiebeams of the porch bay extend to form the wallplates of the midstrey.
