Description

King's Farmhouse is a 17th-century house that has been altered in the 18th century and around 1900. It is timber-framed, with plastered walls and a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The original three-bay section faces northeast, featuring an axial chimney stack at the left end and a 19th-century external stack at the right end. A two-bay extension was added to the left in the 18th century, with its own end stack, and a single-storey extension with a hipped roof was added around 1900. There are two lean-to extensions to the rear, one roofed with machine-made red clay tiles, and a carport. The original section is one storey high with attics, while the left extension is two storeys high. The house has two pairs of early 20th-century French windows, along with four 20th-century casement windows on the front, and four more on the first floor, two of which are within gabled dormers. The interior reveals axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, although many are now boxed in. The timber frame is largely covered, and the large hearths have been reduced to accommodate coal grates.
