BELCHAMP ST PAUL BAKERS ROAD (south side) Four Cottages approx 25 metres south west of Lovelands Farmhouse.

Row of 4 cottages at present unoccupied. Late C15/early C16; remodelled and refronted late C19. Timber-framed, partly plastered, to rear; side and front walls rebuilt in late C19 brick; red concrete tiled roof, half-hipped to right; late C19 brick ridge stacks. One storey and attic; late C19 front of 4-window range, with segmental brick arches over 3 late C19 pladk doors and C20 casements; C20 windows set in 4 flat-headed mid C20 dormers. Interior: late C19 ceiling joists, except original chamfered beam to left: close-studded partition with wattle and daub infill. to right; exposed timber frame to rear, with late C15/early C16 arched doorway to centre, blocked by insertion of late C19 staircase. Rear frame has chamfered wall plate, and jowled posts to 5-bay roof, which survives in part; chamfered tie beams to left and centre, the latter having concealed queen-post truss; other tie beams have been truncated for late C19 remodelling.
