Description

Glebe Cottage is a timber-framed and plastered cottage dating to the 16th and 17th centuries. It was originally three cottages. The roof is thatched with a half-hipped profile and a single-storey lean-to to the right, featuring three curved dormers. The front has a three-window range of 20th-century small-paned casement windows, with a matching window in the lean-to. A 20th-century vertically boarded door is set within a thatched porch extending from the roof on the right side. There are three red brick chimney stacks. The interior includes an inglenook fireplace. The timber framing exhibits braced and bladed scarf joints. A documentary record details the sale of the three cottages to a farm bailiff around 1700 for the sum of £21.
