Description

The Wheatsheaf Hotel is a plain early 19th century building located on the northwest side of High Street in Braintree. It features a plastered brick front with a parapet that is slightly raised in the center, along with a stucco cornice. The hotel is two storeys high and has a seven-window range, with double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars and are set in plain reveals. The ground storey has three-light windows and originally included a central carriageway, which has now been enclosed with a doorway. Above the ground storey windows and doorways, there is a cornice and frieze. The Wheatsheaf Hotel is part of a group that includes Nos 101 to 107 (odd) and Nos 113 to 117 (odd).
