Description
The Boar's Head Hotel is a 15th-century timber-framed and plastered building located on the northwest side of High Street in Braintree. It underwent alterations in the 16th and 17th centuries when an upper storey was added to the central hall, and further modifications occurred in the 18th century and later. The building features a jettied upper storey on the southeast front and has three window ranges, with paired double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars in flush cased frames on the first storey, along with 19th-century bay windows on the ground storey. At the rear, gabled wings extend from the main structure. The roofs are tiled and hipped at the front.
