Description

This is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house, located on the north-west side of High Street, Braintree. The house has been significantly restored and partially rebuilt, with a plastered front. It is two storeys high with attics. The upper storey has been jettied over the front at two levels.

Number 105 has a two-window front, with three-light, double-hung sash windows. The first storey features a central ornamental plaster cartouche, and the ground storey has a central doorway. Number 107 also has a two-window front, with paired double-hung sashes on the first storey and three-light windows on the ground storey.

The roofs are tiled, with three large 19th-century gabled dormers. A two-storey wing extends to the rear of Number 107, with a two-window range. A long outbuilding extends further north-west, with a timber-framed and weatherboarded first storey and a brick ground storey. The windows in the outbuilding are large 18th or early 19th-century workshop windows with glazing bars. Its roof is also tiled. Numbers 101 to 107 (odd) and 113 to 117 (odd) form a group.
