Description
This barn, located approximately 20 metres northwest of Le Hurst Farmhouse, dates back to around 1600 and was extended in the 18th century. It is timber framed, covered with weatherboarding, and has a roof made of corrugated iron. The barn consists of eight bays arranged in a northeast-southwest orientation, with two midstreys on the southeast side. The three bays at the northeast end are the oldest, followed by three additional bays that were added shortly after. These six bays feature jowled posts, heavy studding with arched bracing, and a clasped purlin roof that includes arched wind-bracing. The two bays added to the southwest in the 18th or 19th century have unjowled posts, primary straight bracing, and a roof that lacks wind bracing.
