Description
Quy's Cottage is a small house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame, weatherboarded and plastered, and features a thatched roof. The building has four bays aligned north-south, with an axial chimney stack located one bay from the south end and an external chimney stack at the north end, facing east.
There is a 20th-century single-storey flat-roofed extension to the southwest, which connects the cottage to a small ancillary building. The cottage is single-storey with attics and includes a plain boarded door, two late 18th-century double-hung sash windows, and two 20th-century casement windows. It also features one eyebrow dormer and one gabled dormer, each containing an 18th-century window with one fixed light and one wrought iron casement.
Inside, the cottage has heavy studding, arched braces from the original corner posts, axial beams, and exposed plain joists with a horizontal section. The central ground-floor partition has been stripped back to the studding.
