Description

This is a sculptural group depicting Samson and a Philistine, located about 30 yards southwest of Wimpole Hall. It was created in the 18th century and is made of lead. The sculpture is a copy of the original work by Giovanni Bologna, which is housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The group stands on a limestone base that features raised and fielded panelled sides.
