= ORWELL LOTFIELD STREET TL 3650 (West side) 14/281 No. 19 (Lotfield House) GV II
House. Early C17 crosswing at north end. Late C18 rebuild of main range. Timber framed crosswing, rendered. Tiled, hipped roof with ridge stack of two flues. Two storeys. Three modern, small pane windows. Main range, late C18, of brick, painted, with some timber framing from earlier house now obscured in rear wall. Tiled, mansard roof and late C18 end stack. Two storeys and attic. Two dormers. Two recessed hung sashes at first and yround floors. Within the curtilage is an outbuilding. C18 and early C19. Brick, English bond, and tiled. Clunch, timber frame and weatherboarding with pantiled roof to part at rear. Inside: Crosswing of two bays with arch braced tie beam, and jowled heads to main posts. Abutting inglenook hearths to late C18 with contemporary bread oven. Downward wall bracing visible internally. The main post of the centre truss on the west has been cut down above the inglenook, indicating that the inglenook is a later insertion. C18 range probably built on site of C17 main range. Part of middle rail now a door lintel visible in rear wall.
