Description
No. 88 on Main Street is a cottage that was formerly a workhouse. It dates from the early 18th century and has had some alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed from local gault brick with patterned red brick dressings, and it features both thatched and red pantiled roofs. It is one storey high with an attic, and there is a one-storey range on the left side. The thatched roof is half hipped and has two brick ridge stacks. There is a segmental brick arch over the doorway, which is located to the right of the centre and has a 20th-century door. The cottage also has two large ground floor three-light casement dormer windows. To the left of the lower range, there is a central boarded door flanked by two casement windows, all set in segmental arches.
