Description
No. 114 on West Street is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a thatched roof with raised rebuilt brick coped gables, as well as single gable and axial stacks. The building has a baffle entry plan and is a single storey with attics. It has a plinth and a brick eaves band, with an irregular four-bay front. The off-centre planked door is flanked on the left by a 20th-century three-light glazing bar casement and on the right by two glazing bar sash windows. All openings have segmental heads. Above the door is a small 19th-century sliding sash window. The three dormers that break the eaves have thatched eyebrows and feature two-light glazing bar sliding sashes and casements. To the left of the main structure is a 20th-century lean-to extension. Inside, the cottage retains chamfered beamed ceilings.
