Description
Nos. 35 and 35A on Middlestone Road is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features exposed and plastered timber-frame construction, painted brick, and rear walls made of plastered and painted coursed limestone rubble. The roof is covered with asbestos and has brick stacks at both ends and a ridge stack located to the right of center. The house has two storeys and an attic, originally consisting of three bays that have been extended to the right. It has a long continuous jetty that is underbuilt, with exposed timber-frame construction and ogee braces supporting the post and wall plate. There are two 20th-century doors and three ground floor windows of various sizes, along with six casement windows on the first floor. Inside, the building retains a complete timber-frame structure and side purlin roof, with later internal partitions and a staircase. The ceiling beams are stop-chamfered.
