Description

Nos 35 and 35A on High Street is a house with a shop, likely featuring a 19th-century front. The building is constructed from local stone that is rendered and lined with ashlar, and it is finished with colourwashing. The roof is made of concrete double Roman tiles, with a coped gable to the east and a continuation to the west, along with brick chimney stacks at either end. The structure has two storeys and three bays.

The first bay includes a shopfront from around 1900, which has a two-light window and a recessed doorway on the right. This doorway features plain panelled pilasters and a plain deep fascia supported by four acanthus console brackets, with a shutter box and hood above. There is no window above the shopfront. The second bay contains a Regency-style four-panel door set in a recess, which is framed by a reeded timber surround. The third bay has 16-pane sash windows on both levels. There is an extension at the rear (No 35A) that has a plain clay tile roof over stone slate base courses. The interior has not been seen.
