Description
Nos 45 and 45A on High Street is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the early 18th century or earlier and was extended at the front in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is either roughcast or covered in white weatherboarding, topped with steep old red tile roofs. The front is made of red brick with a flatter pitched slate roof that slopes back to an old ridge. The structure is two stories high, with a deep front range and two two-story rear wings.
The east front has three wide-spaced upper windows that feature gauged flat arches and recessed two-light casements. There is a well-preserved 19th-century shopfront that includes a fascia, a recessed central door accessed by three steps, and three-light segmental headed windows on either side. The ground floor is plastered, with a glazed door and a small shop window on the right. At the rear, there are early 18th-century leaded casements.
