Description

This building, now comprising three shops and a flat, began as a house. It features a south crosswing dating back to the 16th century or earlier, a main range and a southwest wing from the 17th century or earlier. The 20th century has seen the addition of shopfronts. The structure is timber-framed and roughcast, with the southwest wing white weatherboarded. The roofs are steeply pitched and covered with old red tiles.

The front of the house, facing east, has two storeys, with a lower two-storey south crosswing, a higher two-storey main range and a two-storey southwest wing with a central chimney. There are three upper windows across the front: one in the crosswing and two in the main range. These are three-light flush casement windows. A small, first-floor, three-light casement window is located on the south flank near the front corner of the south crosswing. The southwest wing has an irregular arrangement of similar windows (two to each floor) and a planked door near the western corner, and exhibits heavy flat rafters. Internally, the south crosswing contains a crown-post roof with curved axial braces.
