TL 3629 BUNTINGFORD HIGH STREET (east side)

7/13 No 22A, and No 24 (formerly listed as No 22 22.2.67 and No 24)

Shop, now offices. C16, C19 rear extension. Timber frame, plastered with steep old tile roof. A 3-bays, 2-storeys, jettied medieval commercial building with lofty Ground floor, upper floor designed as a large room with N bay partitioned, a carriageway through S bay on Ground floor which may not be original, and apparently no provision for a fireplace in the original building. Street front has 3 flush 2-light casement windows of horizontal proportion (renewed), a deep plaster cove under the jetty, returned at each end, a central entrance to a recessed C20 shopfront, and 6-panel door at the LH end serving the 1st floor. In carriageway on RH, and in shop exposed timber framing and heavy flat joists with axial beam (mortices for axial partition in middle bay). 1st floor has chamfered deep cambered tie-beams with chamfered arched braces.
