Description
35 and 35A East Street is a house that has been divided into two properties. It dates from the mid-18th century, with early 19th century, late 19th century, and 20th century alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and features hipped concrete tile roofs, with two hip stacks and a single hip stack on the extension to the north.
The original 18th-century house is three storeys tall and has five bays, with first and second floor bands and moulded brick eaves. The central doorway is set within a late 19th-century gabled, glazed porch that includes an overlight and a three-quarter glazed door. The inner doorway has a moulded doorcase, a traceried overlight, and a panelled door. This doorway is flanked by single canted late 19th-century bay windows, which contain glazing bar sashes. Above, there are five glazing bar sashes, with five smaller glazing bar sashes above them, all featuring segmental heads.
To the left is an early 19th-century two-bay range, along with 20th-century doorways and windows. The south return showcases a mid-18th-century semi-circular bow window with three glazing bar sashes.
