Description
27 Old Market is a late 18th century or early 19th century house located in Wisbech. It is constructed of local brown brick and features end stacks. The building stands three storeys high with a basement and has four bays, including a bay to the north. The main entrance is slightly recessed and is topped with a parapet that has stone coping and a moulded stone cornice.
On the second floor, there are four recessed six-paned hung sash windows set in cambered gauged brick arches with stone cills. The first floor has four similar twelve-paned windows, while the ground floor features three windows. The main entrance is framed by a gauged, round-headed brick arch, which includes a panelled door and a fanlight above.
At the rear elevation, there is an anthemion decorated cast iron garden staircase leading to a balcony on the first floor. Inside, the house retains its original staircase and panelled shutters on the windows.
