Description

The Vine is a late 18th-century shop that was originally a coaching inn. It is constructed of local brown brick and has a slate roof. The building has three storeys but was raised to four storeys in the 19th century. It features end stacks and a shallow parapet with stone copings. All windows have stone cills, and there are stone bands between the floors. The building has four 'bays'; the central two bays on the second and third floors contain a pair of painted blind windows, flanked by 19th-century sash windows set in cambered gauged brick arches. On the first floor, there are two blind windows beside a large canted bay window with hung sashes. The shop windows and door are modern. The building is included for its group value.
