Description
Garden Cottage is a cottage dated 1868, constructed of red brick with yellow brick dressings and a plain tile roof. The building has a T plan and stands one and a half storeys high. On the entrance front, there is a forward right-hand gabled bay with the entrance located in the re-entrant angle. It features two 2-light casements with lozenge and diamond leaded glazing, which have moulded stone lintels and yellow brick jambs. The first floor includes a 3-light oriel window to the gable, similarly glazed and supported on splayed brackets, with a stone shield bearing the date at the foot. There is also a 2-light gabled dormer with matching glazing. The entrance has a studded boarded door beneath a timber porch with a tiled roof. The cottage is accented with yellow brick quoins and a first-floor band, a red brick dentil course, and wavy bargeboards, with the dormer featuring a drop finial and the gable having both vertical and drop finials. A central brick stack is present. The southeast elevation is also one and a half storeys tall, with two windows that maintain the same glazing and bargeboard details, and the facade is quartered by a yellow brick band and vertical strip.
