Description
No. 7 Church Road is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is timber framed and has a colourwashed plaster render, which retains some pinhole pargetting in a herringbone pattern. The roof is thatched and hipped to the south. The house has a four-room plan, with the southern bay being a later addition. Originally, it featured an open hall, but a ceiling was inserted in the 17th century, resulting in a building with one storey and attics.
The east elevation displays a variety of casement windows, with four on the ground floor and two in eyebrow dormers, most of which have diamond leading. There is a 20th-century glazed door aligned with a rebuilt red brick double ridge stack. Inside, the framing of the original timber-framed smoke bay is visible. Additionally, a 20th-century wing projects from the elevation, which is also colourwashed and has a thatched roof.
