Description
39 Church Road is a house dating from the 16th century, with additions and alterations from the 17th century. It features a timber-framed construction with colourwashed roughcast render and an old clay tile roof. The main block has a two-room plan and was originally a single storey, but a first floor was added in the 17th century, making it one storey and attics. There are later, slightly lower blocks on the south gable end and to the east, creating an overall T-plan.
The west elevation includes one three-light casement window and two canted bays on the ground floor, along with two box dormers featuring two-light casements. All the windows are 20th century with glazing bars. A 20th-century porch and door are located at the centre of the older block, aligned with a red brick ridge stack. There is also an external red brick stack on the south gable end and 20th-century garage doors on the right-hand side.
