Description

Chestnut Tree Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. It is a substantial timber-framed building, largely concealed by a 20th-century brick skin and roughcast render. The roof is tiled. The house originally had attics, and is arranged in a T-shape with two storeys. The north elevation features a two-storied gabled porch centrally located; this was formerly hipped. There are two windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor, all with 20th-century casements incorporating diamond leading. A 20th-century door is present. A central, multiple-ridge stack, constructed of red brick and partly rendered, rises from the roof. The rear block has a ground floor that has been partly rebuilt in red brick, and features 20th-century casements with glazing bars.
