Description
No. 81 Station Road is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with extensions from the 18th century and a refacing in the 19th century. The building features a mottled brick exterior that encases a timber-framed structure and has a thatched roof. The original design consists of a two-room plan, with the upper floor jettied out towards the road. An additional bay has been added towards the road, which is visible in the ceiling of the ground floor room. The house is one storey with attics.
On the east elevation, the ground floor has three three-light casement windows with top lights, while the attic features two eyebrow dormers that also contain three-light casements. There is a doorway to the central bay, which is accessed through a 20th-century glazed porch. The house has one red brick ridge stack and red brick stacks at both gable ends. Inside, the central ground floor room includes a moulded spine beam.
