Description
No. 42 Church Street is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber framed construction, while the ground floor of the front elevation has been rebuilt in red brick. The timber framed areas are covered with pebbledash render, and the roof is made of clay tiles. The building has a T-plan layout and is two storeys high, with the right-hand gable displaying a jettied first floor. There are three windows on each floor, which come in a variety of styles. Most of the windows are casements, but there is one horizontal sash window on each floor, all featuring glazing bars. The main entrance has a part-glazed door with a flat bracketed hood. In line with the entrance, there is a red brick multiple ridge stack, and the main block also includes an integral gable end stack made of red brick.
