Description
This is a row of houses located on Church Street, dating from the early 17th century and 18th century, with later alterations and additions. The construction is timber framed, with some parts exposed on the west elevation and pebbledash render on other areas. Number 36 features a slate roof, while numbers 38 and 40 have clay tile roofs. The row is two stories high, with number 40 directly bordering the road, and numbers 36 and 38 set back, resulting in varying rooflines and pitches. The houses have a variety of casement windows, mostly with glazing bars, with five on the ground floor and four on the first floor. Each house has four plank doors set in simply moulded surrounds. There is a red brick double ridge stack serving numbers 36 and 38, and a red brick integral gable end stack for number 40.
