Description

No. 21 High Street is an 18th-century house set back from the street, featuring a gable end facing the road. It has 19th-century extensions and a shop front that opens onto High Street. The exterior is finished with colourwashed plaster over limestone rubble and topped with a new tile roof. There are two brick stacks at the gable ends. The house has two storeys and attics, with a symmetrical front south-facing elevation. The central front door, which has a flat hood supported by simple scroll brackets, is a six-panel door flanked by two side-sliding sash windows with glazing bars, all under timber lintels. The first floor has three similar windows, and there are two box dormers with leaded lights in the roof. The interior is notably intact, featuring original staircase and doors. The rear elevation has been altered and extended, and there are outhouses to the north-east.
