Description

The Strict Baptist Chapel, located on Sharnbrook High Street, was restored or virtually rebuilt in 1866 by John Usher. The front elevation is constructed of yellow brick with red and orange brick dressings, while the side elevations are of red brick. It has a slate roof and two floors of windows. The three-bay front elevation features a central bay that projects slightly, topped with a pediment containing a circular window. Decorated brickwork details the eaves. The front has three two-light semi-circular headed windows on the first floor and two windows with cambered heads on the ground floor. The main entrance features a large pediment supported by scrolled brackets. The side elevations each contain three sash windows with glazing bars on both floors. A hipped roof is topped with a wrought iron weathercock. The galleried interior largely retains its original layout as documented in the County Record Office (CDE 116/1-8).
