Description
No 12 Load Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates back to the early 18th century, with alterations from the early and late 19th century, and some restoration in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped tile roof. It stands three storeys tall and has a stepped brick cornice and a band at the first floor level.
The building has two windows on the upper floors, which are boxed glazing bar sashes set beneath rubbed brick heads. The second floor also has boxed glazing bar sashes, but these are under segmental heads. The ground floor is slightly advanced and has a flat roof, with glazing bar sashes under rubbed brick heads. The entrance is accessed from an arcade under the Town Hall and features a half-glazed door.
Inside, there is an open well staircase with turned balusters and a closed, moulded string.
