Description

The Town Hall is a building located on Load Street in Bewdley, constructed in 1808, likely designed by John Simpson of Shrewsbury, and restored in 1866 by Henry Rowe of Worcester. It is built of ashlar stone and features a slate roof with a gable end stack. The building has two storeys and is topped with a parapet that has a moulded cornice. A central pediment displays a coat of arms above the central bay, which slightly projects forward and is flanked by two pairs of Doric pilasters. The outer corners of the building also feature single Doric pilasters.

There are three windows on the front, which are 15-pane sashes. The ground level is rusticated and includes three arches leading to an open area; the central arch is larger and has a segmental head, while the two flanking arches also have segmental heads. All arches are filled with wrought iron gates, with the grill over the central gate displaying the arms of Bewdley. Behind the open area, there is a wall with three openings featuring similar arches; the left opening is blocked, while the other two have half-glazed doors.

Inside, the upper room serves as a magistrates' court and includes an early 19th-century flush panelled bench across one end.
