Description
Nos 9, 10, and 11 on Load Street is a house that has been converted into two shops and flats. It dates from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has a dentilled brick cornice.
The façade includes four windows: the first and second floors have glazing bar sashes set under rubbed brick heads, while the second floor features 9-pane sashes also under rubbed brick heads. On the ground floor, there is a central passageway flanked by two shops. The entrance to the passage is adorned with a wooden architrave, a three-panel blind overlight, and a 20th-century wrought iron gate. The shop front on the left has multi-pane windows with Gothick glazing bars, while the entrance on the right features a three-pane overlight and a glazed door. The shop front on the right is from the 20th century, with a central recessed entrance that has a glazed door flanked by two plate glass windows.
