Description
No 242 is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the early 18th century. The building features dark red and brown brick on the first and second floors, while the ground floor is covered in incised colourwashed render. It has a plain-tiled hipped roof and stands two and a half storeys tall, with a plat band above the first floor and moulded brick eaves. There is a rebuilt stack at the rear left.
The upper half storey has three six-pane glazing-bar sash windows with gauged-brick heads, and the first floor contains three 12-pane cambered-head sash windows, with original windows on either side of a central replacement window. The ground floor has two fixed plate glass windows. The entrance features a central open-pedimented doorcase with modillions above and Doric pilasters on either side. The door is glazed and topped with a diamond tracery fanlight.
