Description
No 24 Front Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building features painted and pebbledashed brick with some stone detailing and a Welsh slate roof. It is three storeys high and has five bays arranged in a central hall-entry plan.
The structure has an ashlar plinth, and the central doorcase includes a recessed six-panel door, with the upper four panels being fielded and the two lower panels flush. This door is topped by a radial glazed fan-light set within a moulded semi-circular headed architrave, which is framed by a pilastered surround with fluted consoles that support a moulded open pediment.
On either side of the entrance, there are pairs of 20th-century casement windows in the original openings. Above the entrance, there are five similar windows, and on the top storey, there are five plate-glass sash windows, all featuring projecting stone sills. The building is capped with a fine dentilled cornice and has a hipped roof, although the chimney stacks are missing.
