Description
This is a house, now partly a shop, dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of rendered brick with painted stone dressings and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is three storeys high and has three asymmetrical bays. The central window is prominent, with the window to the left closely adjoining it and the window to the right set some distance away. A late 19th-century shop front occupies the ground floor, featuring a central recessed half-glazed door with elaborate panelling to the base. Flanking the door are canted windows on chamfered sills with stone plinths, all set within a pilastered surround that includes panelled and fluted pilasters and a moulded cornice. To the far right is a four-panel door with a large overlight. Large brackets support a moulded hood across the full width of the facade. The first and second floors feature chamfered rusticated quoins and moulded sill bands; the first floor also has a moulded band at lintel level of the windows. There are three tall sash windows with glazing bars to the first floor, and two six-pane sashes to the second floor, flanking a blocked central window. All windows are set within Gibbs surrounds with large double keystones. A moulded cornice runs along the top of the building, and there is a stone-coped gable to the right.
