Description

Nos 15 and 16 on Severn Side North are two houses that originated as a single house in the first half of the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th century, mid-19th century, and late 20th century. The building features a timber frame with rendered infill, which has been partially replaced and clad in painted brick, sitting on a red sandstone plinth, and topped with a tile roof. It consists of five framed bays, with a chimney stack located in the central bay and a lobby entrance facing the street. No 15 occupies three bays to the south, while no 16 occupies two bays to the north.

The houses are two storeys high, with no 16 having an attic that is lit by a 20th-century gabled dormer. The windows are arranged irregularly, with three plus one on the upper floor; these are primarily 20th-century casements, except for the right of centre window which has one light. The ground floor features two plus two windows, all of which are 20th-century casements, with the left side having two windows of three lights and the others having two lights. The entrance to no 15 is on the left and features a ledged and boarded 18th-century door within a wooden architrave. The entrance to no 16 is roughly centrally placed and has a gabled 20th-century canopy with a boarded door.

The framing of the left-hand three bays is exposed on the first floor, showing a single square panel high with straight angle braces. Inside, the roof includes struts to collars with trenched purlins, and the exposed ceiling beams are chamfered and stopped.
