Description
Nos 7C, 8, 9, and 10 on Severn Side North are likely two houses that have been converted into four. They date from the early 17th century and have undergone alterations in the 18th century, mid-19th century, and late 20th century. The buildings are timber-framed with painted brick infill, some of which has been replaced with painted brick, and feature a tiled roof.
The structure consists of four framed bays, with a rear wing at both the north and south ends. The houses are accessed through passageways on the internal sides of the two outermost bays, and there are chimney stacks at the rear. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by two gabled dormers.
There are four windows in total: three are 3-light casements, while the window to the right of centre has four lights, with the two central lights being from the 20th century and the others from the 19th century. On the ground floor, the outer windows are sashes, with the left window having ten panes and the right window having twelve panes. The window left of centre is a 3-light casement from the 20th century, and the window to the right of centre is a top-hung casement from the 20th century.
There are two entrances; the one on the left features a plain 18th-century wooden doorcase with a flat canopy on scroll brackets, and a 17th-century ledged door. The entrance on the right has a similar doorcase but no door. The framing on the ground floor has been removed, revealing three square panels high with straight angle braces to the first floor, while the gable truss has struts to the collar. Inside, the ceiling beams are exposed and chamfered with scroll stops.
