Description
Nos. 23 and 25 on High Street are a pair of houses dating from the 16th to 17th century, with some alterations. The first floor features a timber frame with later brick infill, while the ground floor was rebuilt in brick during the 19th to 20th century. The building has an old tiled roof and a central brick chimney that was rebuilt in the 19th century. It is two storeys high with an attic and consists of four bays, with the left bay likely being a slightly later addition. The right bay has a gabled front and slightly projects, with a jettied first floor. The three bays to the left have three-light wooden windows with small panes, where the central light is a horizontal sliding sash. The right bay features paired barred wooden casements on the first floor, flanked by small 17th-century two-light windows with moulded mullions and jambs, and diamond leading. There is a similar 17th-century window in the attic. The bay to the left of the chimney has a stop-chamfered spine beam.
