Description
The Cock and Magpie Public House is a building that originated as a house in the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and features a machine tile roof, with a stack located at the rear. The building has two storeys and an attic that is illuminated by two gabled dormers. A dentilled brick cornice runs along the top, and there is a brick coped verge to the right, which includes a stone kneeler.
The façade includes two canted bay windows that extend through both storeys and have flat roofs. The central entrance is accessed by two brick steps and is framed by a pilastered wooden doorcase topped with a gabled canopy. The entrance features a 19th-century panelled door. Above the entrance, there is a painted 20th-century sign board, along with a relief panel that is inscribed with "COCK AND PIE." Inside, the building retains several 18th-century boarded doors on the first floor and in the attic.
