Description
The Hoobrook War Memorial is located on a grassy area beside the Old Chester Road. It features an obelisk that has a gently tapering square plinth and a roughly-carved square base. On the south face of the obelisk, there is a relief-carved laurel wreath that contains the raised inscription "1914/1919." Below this, the words "PRO PATRIA" are also inscribed in raised lettering.
The main inscription is found on a slate plaque on the south face of the plinth. It reads: "TO THE GLORY/ OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THOSE/ WHO GAVE THEIR SERVICES/ AND OF/ (1 NAME)/ WHO FELL/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1919/ THIS STONE IS ERECTED BY/ THE INHABITANTS OF/ HOO BROOK."
Additional inscriptions in incised lettering are present on the memorial: the west face lists 18 names, the east face lists 18 names, and the north face lists 2 names.
