Description
The Fountain Monument to Richard Eve, built in memory of Richard Eve (1831-1900), is a Grade II listed structure located in Brinton Park. It has a square shape with canted corners and features non-classical pilasters and a balustraded parapet adorned with ball finials at each corner. The monument's octagonal top section is topped with a domed fluted roof, also featuring a ball finial. The entire structure is covered in bright glazed tiles, predominantly in shades of brown, green, and yellow, and is accessed by three steps. Each face of the monument has an arcade, with one side displaying a portrait in a roundel. Inscriptions on the monument read: "Chivalrous by nature and fired with the enthusiasm of Humanity he resisted oppression and did battle for the right," "To keep his memory Green in his native town, which he ardently loved, admiring friends have raised this memorial," and "Charity was ever his end and aim devoted to the masonic craft he was Grand Treasurer of England 1889 and for years Chairman of the Masonic Boys School."
