Description
Caldwall Hall is a late 15th century or early 16th century building featuring an octagonal tower with two storeys and a cellar. It is constructed from local sandstone and includes moulded cornices and an embattled parapet. Each storey has one 18th century window, while several original small lights can still be found in the staircase turret. The lower ground floor room showcases 16 radial ribs, which are alternately single chamfered and single hollow chamfered. This structure appears to be a remnant of a small castle or fortified manor house, which was occupied in the 17th century by Sir Ralph Clare, the first High Steward of Kidderminster.
