Description
Nos 3 and 4 Welch Gate are likely two houses that have been converted into a shop and flats. They date from the mid-18th century, with some early 19th-century and late 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of brick and has a tile roof. It stands three storeys high and features a dentilled brick cornice.
On the front, there are four windows: to the left, a two-light 20th-century casement; in the center, two 20th-century glazing bar sashes; and to the right, a 20th-century top-hung casement, all set under segmental heads. The second floor has a two-light 20th-century casement to the left, two 8-pane 20th-century sashes, and a top-hung casement to the right.
On the ground floor, there is a shop front to the left and a central carriage entrance, both located under a signboard and flanked by pilasters. The shop window on the left has four lights, and there is a glazed door for the shop entrance, along with a two-leaf boarded door for the carriage entrance to the right. To the right side, there is a glazing bar sash under a segmental head, with an entrance featuring a wooden architrave, an overlight, and a boarded door, also under a segmental head. The building is included for its group value.
